Career Voyages - Collaboration between the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Education. It is designed to provide information on high growth, high demand occupations along with the skills and education needed to attain jobs for Youth.

Health

Alcohol and Drug Treatment

Alcoholics Anonymous-Information, groups and meetings throughout Oregon.

Cascadia- Dual diagnosis intensive & non-intensive outpatient services.  DUII, gambling, age-specific and gender-specific treatment available.

Center for Family and Adolescent Research- Free drug treatment for adolescents and their families.  The project provides intensive help to parents who want treatment for their child ages 15-20.

Central City Concern- serves Portland’s homeless and low-income individuals who are in need of basic care. Compassion, innovation and tenacity frame CCC’s health and recovery services for individuals and families. These programs are frequently integrated with housing and other supportive services.

DePaul Treatment Center- Various locations throughout the Portland Metro area.  Outpatient drug & alcohol treatment for adults and youth.  Inpatient component (3-6 months), DUII.

Lifeworks NW - Customized individual and group programs help youth and families, adults and older adults deal with addictions from alcohol and gambling to medications and beyond—working to regain a balance.

Dental Care

Assistance League of Portland - Serves children who qualify for free/reduced lunch.  Serves PPS children K-12, September-June.

Mt. Hood Community College Dental Hygiene Clinic - Under $30 for most services.  Limited basis.  No emergencies.

Multnomah County Dental Access Program - Referral for urgent and emergency dental appointments for uninsured clients.

OHSU School of Dentistry- Provides low-cost general dentistry: fillings, and emergency care.

Medical Care

Coalition of Community Health Clinics- Medical clinics that provide free or low-cost health care to the uninsured.

Family Health Insurance Assistance Program- For those who do not qualify for OHP. 70-95% subsidy for private insurance. Can not be on or eligible for Medicare.

Outside In Medical Clinic-Walk-in services for ages 30 and under.

Planned Parenthood -  Reproductive health care, HIV/AIDS testing, STD testing.  Free/sliding scale.

Mental Health Care

Cascadia- Providing mental health, alcohol, and drug treatment, case management and medication management to people with OHP Plus.

Lifeworks NW - Customized individual and group programs help youth and families, adults and older adults deal with addictions from alcohol and gambling to medications and beyond—working to regain a balance.

Morrison Child and Family Services - Various programs and services provided throughout the Metro area that provide mental health services for youth.

Outside In Medical Clinic-Walk-in mental health services.

Portland State University Community Counseling Clinic -  provides low cost individual, couple and family counseling. It is located on the 5th floor of Education Hall and is open by appointment on both day and evening schedules.  The clinic seeks clients who are able to come on a weekly basis, at the same time, for up to ten weeks. The Clinic does not offer medication services or help during a mental health crisis. The cost is $15 per session.

Housing

Permanent Housing

Community Alliance of Tenants (CAT) -  Hotline for renters' rights information. Educates and empowers renters to demand safe, stable, and affordable rental housing. Also organizes Building Repair Forums

Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon - Shared housing program.

Fair Housing - For residents of Washington County

Friendly House - Call once a week for availability of housing assistance. Serves homeless families with children

Habitat for Humanity - Income guidelines. Applicants must be willing to work 500 hours.

Hacienda CDC (Community Development -  Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00. Affordable housing with rents based on income for 50% and 60%. 1,2,3, & 4 bedroom apts. available. $35 application fee and $300 refundable security deposit. Also provides a variety of community programs and classes and an onsite county health clinic

Housing Authority of Clackamas County -  Subsidized rental housing in Clackamas County

Housing  Authority of Portland (HAP) Section 8 Housing  -Administers the Rent Assistance Program (RASP). Must go in and apply. There is a waiting list for next subsidized apartment. Office opens for applications only at 7:30am

Washington County Housing Services

Housing Connections - Provides lists of low cost and special needs housing on website. Covers Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties. Use online calculator to determine affordable rent based on income

Human Solutions - Transitional housing for families. Please call for appointment and information

Innovative Housing, Inc.

Patton Home - SRO for individuals who make less than $28,500 per year. Furnished rooms available with communal dining area. Meal service available, accepts Oregon Trail Card. $30 application fee. $395 per month, utilities included

Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives, Inc. - Affordable housing provider--call for availability and eligibility. Also offers services such as a parent network, emergency childcare funding, and a gardening program

Portland Housing Center - For low-income people who need assistance with negotiating payments of low mortgages. Ready to Rent classes. First time homebuyers educational program

Portland Impact - May have a waiting list for rental assistance. Eligibility based on income

REACH Community Development - Low income housing available, though there is a waiting list for 6-12 months

Rose Community- Rentals and homes for sale in SE Portland

St. Vincent de Paul - Occasionally have funds to assist with emergency housing or rental assistance

Transition Projects, Inc - Provides rental assistance for single people who are homeless.

Transitional Housing

Central City Concern - Located in Old Town/Downtown Portland. Subsidized and non-subsidized housing

Community Action Organization - Located in Hillsboro

Everett Hotel - Single resident occupancy men and women on parole/probation

Friendly House - Call once a week for availability of housing assistance. Serves homeless families with children

Hopespring Transitional Housing - Locations in Aloha and Tigard

Human Solutions - Transitional housing for families. Please call for appointment and information

Luke-Dorf, Inc. - Located in Tigard. Provides housing for people with mental disabilities

NW Housing Alternative

Neighborhood House - Provides referrals for resources in SW Portland such as housing, rental assistance, and utilities. Assists with emergency needs for homeless

Transition Projects, Inc - Provides rental assistance for single people who are homeless

YWCA - Fresh Start Program for individuals with any barriers to housing in Multnomah County

Teen Parent

Parenting Resources

Adventis Medical Center- Groups for moms with babies ages 0-12 months. Provides socialization with other moms, trouble shooting, weight checks, lactation issues, etc.

Center for Family Success- "Parenting Inside and Out" curriculum for parents and caregivers involved in DHS and the criminal justice system.

Insights Teen Parent Program- Provides counseling, support groups, parent education, and child care for pregnant and parenting teens.

Neighborhood House Parenting Program- Free parent/child play groups for children 0-5. Information, support groups, and health and development screenings are also available.

Parents Anonymous- Confidential and anonymous support line which offers crisis assistance, emotional support, and information and referrals to local community resources.  Available to anyone in the tri-county area experiencing stress or concerns about parenting. 503-258-4557

Pregnancy Resources

Planned Parenthood- Reproductive health care, HIV/AIDS testing, STD testing.  Free/sliding scale.

Pregnancy Resource Center- Pregnancy tests, peer counseling, pregnancy information, adoption information, maternity, baby toys and clothes, furnishings, parenting classes.

Child Care Resources

Albina Head Start- Free child care for birth to age 5 for low income families.  Must meet income guidelines, be working or in school, and live in North, NE, or SE Portland.

Arc of Multnomah County- Respite care for special needs children.

Department of Human Services Employment/Education Related Day Care (ERDC)- Child care assistance for parents who are working or in school.

Mt. Hood Community College Head Start- Child Development and family support services available for pregnant women and families of children age birth - 5 to who are low income and reside in East County outside Portland Public Schools.
