CORY Training Coordinator

 

The Youth Employment Institute CORY Training Coordinator is an exempt position responsible for coordinating the training of CORY program participants, including the coordination of crews, data management, and facilitation of the work experience program for youth participants.  The position is responsible for developing fee-based services in the areas of interior and exterior painting, graffiti removal, landscaping, and building maintenance whole providing workforce readiness and pre-apprenticeship training for young adults.  The position also involves completing program paperwork and monitoring trainees’ progress.

 

Experience/Education Requirements:

 

A typical background for the person who can fulfill the duties of this position is as follows:

 

  1. Previous experience working with disadvantage youth preferred.

 

  1. Previous experience working on a labor intensive job site.

 

  1. Three years experience working with paint, solvent and power washing experience required.

 

  1. Computer skills including experience with MS Word, Servicepoint, MS Access and Internet preferred.

 

  1. High School Diploma or GED required.

 

  1. Ability to obtain Contractor’s License within a reasonable time from date of hire.

Education Coordinator I

 

This position is responsible for the implementation of the academic, GED/Basic Skills, employment training, and life skills program for all YEI participants.  It is also responsible for developing and teaching curriculum, and coordinating with educational agencies concerning the granting of GED diplomas.  This position is primarily responsible for teaching Social Studies and Science in preparation for the GED.  This is a temporary hourly position (approximately 30 hours/week) through June 15, 2008.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required and experience or training in teaching GED preparation.

 

  • Current State of Oregon teaching certificate preferred.

 

  • Special education endorsement preferred.

 

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of personal computers and Windows software.

 

  • Experience working with a very culturally diverse population required.

 

Position is open until filled.  Compensation: $15/hour.

Graffiti Crew Leader - Part-Time

 

The Graffiti Abatement Crew Leader is a nonexempt position responsible for leading and teaching a crew of trainees in performing graffiti removal work.  The position also coordinates volunteer activities relating to graffiti removal and participates with community groups on issues involving or relevant to graffiti removal program. This is a temporary hourly position (approximately 30 hours/week) through June 15, 2008.

 

7.      Previous experience working with pressure washers, painting, and ladders.

8.      Manual dexterity allowing performance of graffiti removal.

9.      Ability to lift minimum of 50lbs.

10. Must be able to drive a manual transmission.

11. Previous experience working with at-risk, disadvantaged youth preferred.

Case Coordinator

This position is responsible for providing case management to support youth in achieving their self-sufficiency goals within our GED and Commitment to Success programs.  This includes working as part of a team to organize educational, job-readiness, career-development, and recreational activities.  The position also involves establishing youth academic and career goals, supporting the acquisition of those goals and monitoring and reporting progress.  Some evening and weekend hours required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • Previous experience working with at-risk, disadvantaged youth preferred;
  • Experience in public school, community college or alternative school environment preferred;
  • Experience working with Department of Labor standards with Workforce Investment Act ran programs preferred;
  • Proficiency with computers required.  

 

Position is open until filled.  Compensation: $27,000-$32,000 annually, plus benefits.

Substitute Education Coordinator

YEI currently has an opening for a Substitute Education Coordinator II. This position is responsible for the design and implementation of the academic, GED/Basic Skills, employment training and life skills program for all YEI participants.

Teacher’s Aide II – Part-Time

This position is responsible for caring for children enrolled in the program’s child-care unit and maintaining cleanliness and order of childcare areas. Applicants must have a minimum of six months experience in a center based program working with infants and toddlers. In addition, three years experience in child care and education/training equivalent to nine college credit hours in early childhood education preferred.

 

This is a Part-Time position:  15 – 20 hours/week

 

Position is open until filled.  Compensation: $8.00 - $9.00/hour
